Quality & Test Automation Lead

Location: Hampshire, United Kingdom; onsite 5 days per week. Candidates must have the right to work in the United Kingdom and meet applicable UK Government and contractual personnel security and residency requirements. Some roles may have nationality requirements.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and continuously improve automated testing strategies for functional, non-functional, regression, and security testing.
• Embed quality assurance into SAFe Program Increment planning, Scrum ceremonies, and CI/CD deployment pipelines.
• Mentor, coach, and upskill test automation engineers and cross-functional team members.
• Establish automated quality gates, quality metrics, and dashboards for release readiness and defect leakage.
• Facilitate backlog refinement and planning sessions while balancing quality standards with delivery timelines.

Requirements

• Advanced expertise in test automation frameworks including Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or RestAssured.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or JavaScript, with experience integrating automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
• Experience in software quality engineering, automated test frameworks, and quality assurance governance across SAFe release trains.
• Knowledge of secure development practices and compliance frameworks relevant to UK public sector projects.
• Technical NVQ Level 4, a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent vocational experience.
• Right to work in the United Kingdom and eligibility for applicable UK Government and contractual personnel security and residency requirements.

Nice to have

• ISTQB Test Automation Engineer, Technical Test Analyst, or Certified Agile Tester certification.
• Agile or SAFe certification, such as SAFe Practitioner, Scrum Master, or Agile Software Engineering.
• ITIL Foundation certification.
