Automation Engineer

Location: Cambridge, United Kingdom; hybrid work with predominantly remote options and onsite attendance as required. Applicants should be within commuting distance or willing to relocate. Permanent right to work in the UK is required; visa sponsorship is not available.

What you will do

• Build and scale automation capabilities for software and operations engineering teams.
• Develop automated development and testing harnesses across the software development lifecycle.
• Create white-box and black-box frameworks for functional, integration, API, UI, performance, and non-functional testing.
• Improve automation execution frameworks and introduce modern tooling.
• Provide quality metrics, reporting, and visualisation for engineering teams.
• Contribute to architecture principles, development standards, and cross-team tooling discussions.

Requirements

• Experience designing, developing, and maintaining automation platforms, frameworks, and tooling.
• Strong programming skills in one or more of C#, Java, Python, Go, or TypeScript.
• Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, configuration management, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, microservices, and developer tooling.
• Practical experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, plus quality dashboards and visualisation.
• Permanent right to work in the UK without employer sponsorship is required.
