Manufacturing Systems Engineer I (PLC)

Location: Singapore Manufacturing - Tuas; on-site

What you will do

• Provide day-to-day technical support for manufacturing automation systems, including troubleshooting, incident investigation, monitoring, and change implementation.
• Assess, test, deploy, and document automation changes in accordance with SOPs and GMP requirements.
• Support small-to-medium automation projects from design and risk assessment through commissioning, qualification, startup, and handover.
• Investigate system faults, prepare technical reports, implement corrective and CAPA actions, and identify recurring issues.
• Drive continuous improvements to automation-system reliability, efficiency, and compliance.
• Coordinate with Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, IT/OT, EHSS, and external service providers; support audits and provide guidance to junior engineers and contractors.

Requirements

• Master’s degree, or a bachelor’s degree with 2 years of directly related experience, or equivalent education and experience.
• Preferred 4+ years of experience in manufacturing automation, especially in biotechnology or pharmaceutical environments.
• Experience supporting Siemens PLCs, DDCs, BMS, and QEMS; working knowledge of Rockwell and Siemens PLC/HMI hardware, control logic, HMI/SCADA systems, SQL databases, industrial networks, and field instrumentation.
• Experience troubleshooting system faults and coordinating corrective actions across Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and external service providers.
• Experience with utility skid equipment such as HVAC, cooling towers, chillers, RO, clean steam, and waste treatment systems.
• Working knowledge of GMP, change control, risk assessment, testing, documentation, data integrity, computerized system validation, 21 CFR Part 11, GAMP, deviations, CAPA, and EHSS requirements.
