Principal Site Reliability Engineer (GCP)

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid and flexible, with about one office day per week preferred but not required

Salary: £140,000–£150,000 base per year plus bonus

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate scalable, secure infrastructure across GCP and AWS.
• Lead greenfield infrastructure builds and standardize existing cloud environments.
• Solve multi-region, multi-account, and multi-cloud challenges involving networking, identity, and data movement.
• Automate infrastructure with Terraform, Terragrunt, and Atlantis.
• Own monitoring, alerting, observability, incident response, and cloud cost improvements.
• Set technical direction through architecture proposals, design reviews, documentation, mentoring, and GCP training.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience running production workloads on GCP at scale; 5+ years is ideal, while 2–3 years with solid AWS experience may be considered.
• Production Kubernetes experience, ideally with GKE.
• Terraform experience, preferably with the GCP provider.
• Experience with GCP networking, including VPC, Cloud Load Balancing, and Cloud CDN.
• Automation skills in Python, Go, or TypeScript and experience with large-scale 24/7 SaaS platforms.
• Experience improving the skills of other engineers and leading technically without direct reports.

Nice to have

• AWS experience alongside GCP.
• GCP security and IAM, BigQuery, Dataflow, and cloud cost management experience.
• GCP Professional certifications.
