Senior Counsel (Sexual Torts Defense)

Location: San Diego, California; remote, hybrid, or onsite work options are available. An active California Bar license is required.

Salary: $160,000–$200,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. An annual billable-hours bonus is also available.

What you will do

• Defend complex, high-exposure matters involving sexual assault, child sexual abuse, sexual misconduct, and institutional liability.
• Develop compelling case themes and litigation strategies for sensitive factual and legal issues.
• Independently handle court appearances, depositions, briefs, discovery, dispositive motions, and trials.
• Manage full case-handling responsibilities, including expert coordination, trial preparation, and client counseling.
• Communicate with clients, witnesses, experts, opposing counsel, and internal litigation teams.
• Provide leadership and direction to less experienced attorneys while contributing to collaborative case strategy.

Requirements

• Active California Bar license required.
• JD from an ABA-approved law school.
• At least 8 years of solid litigation experience, including depositions and trial preparation.
• Experience managing all facets of discovery and full case handling.
• Strong judgment, discretion, analytical ability, and written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and time-management systems.

Nice to have

• Experience with sexual torts, abuse, institutional liability, catastrophic injury, professional liability, or medical malpractice litigation.
• Insurance defense experience.
