Fraud Strategy Intern (Fintech)

Location: Toronto, Canada; flexible hybrid work model

Salary: $25 CAD per hour; internship term from January to April 2027

What you will do

• Research fraud trends, scam typologies, emerging risks, and developments affecting the Canadian payments ecosystem.
• Prepare fraud intelligence reports, executive briefings, presentations, and strategic materials.
• Organize and improve fraud knowledge repositories, documentation, and SharePoint resources.
• Analyze information-sharing practices and identify opportunities to improve collaboration across the organization.
• Collaborate with Product, Fraud Analytics, Fraud Operations, Enterprise Risk, Legal, and Compliance stakeholders.
• Lead a defined term project and present recommendations, findings, and outcomes to the Fraud Strategy team.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary program in Commerce, Business Administration, Criminology/Criminal Justice, Economics/Policies, Political Science, Data Analytics, or a related field.
• Strong research, critical thinking, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources and present findings clearly to different audiences.
• Ability to evaluate recommendations considering trade-offs, effort, cost, resources, and potential impact.
• Initiative, accountability, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

Nice to have

• Experience creating presentations, reports, dashboards, or communication materials.
• Familiarity with fraud, scams, financial crime, risk management, cybersecurity, or the Canadian payments ecosystem.
• Experience with data visualization or reporting tools such as Excel or Tableau.
