Engineering Lead (Growth)

Location: San Francisco, United States; work from the office three days a week

Salary: $15,000–$22,000 per month, plus potential equity and bonus.

What you will do

• Lead delivery of complex Growth initiatives from technical planning and architecture through launch and continuous improvement.
• Guide scalable backend services, frontend applications, event-driven systems, and AI-native platform capabilities for experimentation, personalization, and growth automation.
• Build and develop a high-performing engineering team through mentorship, coaching, delegation, and clear expectations.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data Science, Marketing, Sales, and engineering teams to turn ambiguous business problems into technical roadmaps.
• Use experimentation, customer insights, and data to prioritize opportunities and improve measurable growth outcomes.
• Raise standards for system design, code quality, performance, reliability, security, observability, and operational excellence.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including engineering team leadership or ownership of complex technical initiatives.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong backend, frontend, or full-stack expertise with scalable production systems using technologies such as Python, Java/Kotlin, React, or TypeScript.
• Proven ability to make architectural decisions, manage technical trade-offs, and deliver high-quality solutions.
• Experience mentoring and developing engineers while building a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Ability to work from the San Francisco office three days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with growth platforms, experimentation systems, customer segmentation, marketing automation, or product-led growth.
• Experience developing AI-powered applications or agentic workflows, including LLM integration, tool orchestration, evaluation, and production observability.
• Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, data pipelines, AWS, or GCP.
• Experience in high-growth technology companies, fintech, payments, or regulated environments.
