Associate Director, Event Production

Location: Washington, DC preferred; East Coast required. Remote-optional within the United States. Regular travel and work during early mornings, evenings, or weekends may be required.

Salary: $98,000–$130,000 per year, depending on location, experience, and skills.

What you will do

• Manage technical production for in-person and virtual events, including A/V systems, staging, lighting, livestreaming, video playback, and on-site recording.
• Serve as stage manager and show caller, coordinating production cues, backstage operations, rehearsals, talent movement, and contingency plans.
• Source, scope, budget, contract, and manage A/V production vendors and site-specific technical builds.
• Own production timelines, staffing schedules, task tracking, budgets, vendor estimates, purchase orders, and invoice reconciliations.
• Manage post-production workflows, including rapid content clipping in Adobe Premiere Pro and delivery of video assets to editorial and marketing teams.
• Collaborate with editorial, creative, and design teams, advise stakeholders on technical solutions, mentor associates and freelancers, and identify opportunities to improve quality and scale production.

Requirements

• 5–7 years of experience in high-volume event production, including technical design, A/V execution, and budget management.
• Deep knowledge of A/V workflows, livestreaming, broadcast systems, LED, communications, rigging, and event safety.
• Experience managing production budgets line by line and relationships with A/V and production vendors, including on-site teams.
• High proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with senior executives and high-profile participants, plus the ability to work effectively under tight timelines.
• Experience managing open-press or public-facing events and remaining calm, adaptable, and solution-oriented under pressure.

Nice to have

• Experience with Adobe After Effects and Photoshop.
• Familiarity with project management tools such as Wrike or Airtable.
