Staff Software Engineer (Android)

Location: Remote - United States

Base salary: $217,000–$303,900 USD per year, with potential equity and commission depending on the position offered.

What you will do

• Evolve Reddit’s cross-platform design system by developing reusable, higher-level UI components.
• Collaborate with product teams, designers, and engineers to support real product requirements.
• Improve Android architecture, rendering patterns, and performance practices at scale.
• Build accessible components, tooling, and documentation that promote accessibility by default.
• Strengthen developer experience through shared tooling, documentation, and platform improvements.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience and a track record of leading cross-functional projects with broad product impact.
• Experience building and maintaining shared UI infrastructure, design systems, component libraries, or frontend infrastructure used by multiple teams.
• Strong modern Android development experience with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
• Expertise in UI architecture, scalable component design, and performance optimization using tools such as Instruments.
• Familiarity with accessibility best practices and a commitment to improving platform accessibility.
