UX Product Designer, National Security

Location: San Mateo, California, United States; onsite at least 3 days per week at hirify.global HQ. Relocation assistance may be available.

Annual base salary: $150,000–$200,000, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Own UX execution for core platforms, including interfaces for remote operations and autonomous flying robots.
• Map Critical User Journeys and design cross-platform experiences for web, mobile, and ground control stations.
• Design workflows for remote hardware sensing, 3D spatial awareness, and AI-driven missions.
• Communicate design rationale using user needs, research data, and system logic while collaborating with Product Management and Engineering.
• Build high-fidelity interactive prototypes, test assumptions, and use AI tools to accelerate exploration and user studies.
• Participate in customer site visits and apply field insights to high-stress operational environments.

Requirements

• 3–6 years of hands-on UX/UI product design experience delivering products built and shipped by Engineering.
• Portfolio demonstrating strong visual design, complex systems architecture, and exceptional attention to detail.
• Experience designing technical tools used in real-world environments, such as mapping, navigation, hardware-connected, or multi-step workflow products.
• Ability to conduct research, build prototypes, run user studies, and solve ambiguous problems without established design patterns.
• Strong prototyping skills and the ability to translate product requirements into clear design concepts and specifications.
• Ability to work onsite at least 3 days per week at the San Mateo headquarters.

Nice to have

• Experience with mapping or navigation applications.
• Experience designing tools connected to physical devices or IoT hardware.
• Experience with complex, multi-step workflows and AI-assisted product development.
