Founding Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Oslo; must be based in New York and able to work from the office at least 3 days per week

What you will do

• Build and shape the next stage of an AI software platform from an early stage.
• Influence architecture, infrastructure, product direction, and engineering culture.
• Design and build scalable, reliable distributed systems.
• Make technical decisions and take ownership of complex engineering challenges.
• Work closely with founders, senior engineers, customers, and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Must be based in New York and work from the office at least 3 days per week.
• Strong backend engineering experience.
• Strong cloud and infrastructure experience with AWS or GCP.
• Experience with Go, Python, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to make sound technical decisions in fast-moving environments and operate with ambiguity.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with customers and stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Previous experience as a Founding Engineer, early-stage startup engineer, or founder.
• Experience building AI or machine learning products.
• Full-stack experience with React and TypeScript.
• Leadership or mentoring experience.
• Experience in highly regulated or complex industries and scaling products or teams in startup environments.
