Associate Fixed-Income Principal Trader

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States; office presence at least four days per week with flexibility to work from home one day per week

Base salary: $81,700–$112,300 per year, plus potential bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Execute assigned principal fixed-income transactions and make independent buying, selling, pricing, and inventory-positioning decisions within delegated authority and risk limits.
• Manage assigned inventory, bid coverage, pricing analysis, trade reviews, turnover, concentration, aging, and DV01 exposure.
• Evaluate municipal bonds across credit, structure, call features, liquidity, maturity, supply and demand, and market technicals.
• Establish or recommend U.S. Treasury hedge positions and apply mark-up/mark-down, special trade-coding, and regulatory-reporting requirements.
• Convert economic, regulatory, dealer, advisor, and order-flow developments into trading, distribution, inventory, and risk recommendations.
• Explain complex concepts to advisors, develop dealer relationships, and contribute to desk-development and operating-improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Active Series 7 and Series 63 licenses at hire.
• Experienced fixed-income knowledge with the ability to explain bond pricing relative to competitive alternatives.
• Strong pricing, relative-value, inventory, hedging, and risk judgment, including supply and demand, aging, concentration, and DV01 analysis.
• Ability to apply principal-trading controls, regulatory reporting, and risk-management practices while acting independently within delegated authority.
• Valid U.S. work authorization that does not now or in the future require visa sponsorship; full-time Minneapolis office presence.

Nice to have

• Typically 5–7 years of transferable financial-services, fixed-income, capital-markets, trading-support, operations, wealth-management, public-finance, investment, or related experience.
• Municipal-securities, principal-trading, inventory-management, or retail fixed-income distribution experience.
• Experience interpreting credit, pricing, yield, market technicals, advisor activity, inventory turnover, and trading-platform outputs.
