Staff Electrical Engineer (HPC)

Base salary: $148,500–$222,700 per year

What you will do

• Lead lifecycle-management projects from scoping and planning through execution, risk management, qualification, documentation, and release.
• Oversee the electrical systems of NovaSeq X and 6K sequencing instruments across development, sustaining, and end-of-life phases.
• Manage component end-of-life and supply-shortage responses, supplier changes, redesigns, and product improvements.
• Own the HPC/Compute Engine server subsystem, including qualification, validation, DVT setup, design reviews, and hardware releases.
• Troubleshoot server hardware issues involving PCIe enumeration, memory training, SSD compatibility, BIOS, firmware, and boot behavior.
• Lead and mentor engineers while collaborating with software, firmware, manufacturing, quality, field service, and sourcing teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of experience, Master’s degree with 6+ years, or PhD with 3+ years.
• Experience leading full-lifecycle management of electronic systems in complex products, including technical project ownership and mentoring.
• Proficiency with PCB design tools such as Altium Designer and high-speed, high-density board design.
• Strong understanding of MCU, MPU, FPGA, firmware, HDL, x86 server platforms, DDR4/DDR5 memory, NVMe/U.2/U.3 SSDs, PCIe, and BIOS/POST behavior.
• Knowledge of test engineering, fixture design, EMI/EMC and safety compliance, and system-level problem solving.
• Strong communication, leadership, ownership, business acumen, and ability to learn new technical domains quickly.

Nice to have

• Cable design experience with SolidWorks Electrical.
