Forward Deployed Engineering - Architect (AI)

Location: London, United Kingdom — hybrid; travel to customers 20% of the time.

What you will do

• Lead customer technical projects by designing and delivering production-grade data, AI, and application solutions.
• Own architecture and design decisions for secure, scalable end-to-end systems.
• Build reference architectures, custom applications, data ingestion pipelines, and ML/AI integrations.
• Embed with customer teams, guide architecture decisions, provide training, and support adoption of the Databricks platform.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineering, product, support, and customer stakeholders to deliver measurable outcomes.
• Develop reusable accelerators, frameworks, and best practices that scale across accounts and inform the product roadmap.

Requirements

• Strong experience in data engineering, data platforms and analytics, or software engineering.
• Ability to code in Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks.
• Working knowledge of at least two cloud ecosystems among AWS, Azure, and GCP, with expertise in one.
• Deep experience with distributed computing using Apache Spark and knowledge of Spark runtime internals.
• Experience with CI/CD, MLOps, ML/AI models, AI APIs, and production end-to-end data architectures.
• Experience delivering technical projects for enterprise clients, managing scope and timelines, documenting solutions, and communicating with stakeholders from technical contributors to executives.
