Senior Legal Counsel, Privacy & DPO (ILA Region) (Fintech)

Location: Madrid, Spain; the role serves Spanish and Portuguese entities.

What you will do

• Act as the officially designated Data Protection Officer for Spanish and Portuguese subsidiaries before the AEPD and CNPD.
• Lead daily privacy operations, including DPIAs, LIAs, privacy workflows, DSRs, data breaches, and security incidents.
• Draft, review, and negotiate DPAs and privacy clauses with clients, vendors, and strategic partners.
• Own and optimise Spanish, Portuguese, and ILA regional ROPAs for scalability and audit readiness.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales on privacy by design, AI-related privacy risks, cookies, outreach, and consent frameworks.
• Build standardised privacy processes, automation tools, AI governance frameworks, and post-merger integration workstreams.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of hands-on privacy experience, preferably in B2B technology, banking, SaaS, or a top-tier law firm.
• Strong practical knowledge of Spanish LOPDGDD, Portuguese Lei n.º 58/2019, and European GDPR requirements.
• European law degree; Spanish or Portuguese legal qualification is highly preferred.
• Experience with complex integrations, organisational restructurings, or M&A in a pan-European context.
• Full professional proficiency in English and Spanish and/or Portuguese is essential.
• Ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical business guidance and improve workflows in a lean team.

Nice to have

• Experience with automation tools, AI-driven solutions, AI regulations, AI governance, or scalable privacy processes.
• Experience with SaaS products and interest in applying AI to privacy operations.
