Full Stack Geospatial Developer

Location: McLean, Virginia, United States; full-time onsite work required

Salary: $200,000–$250,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, document, deploy, and maintain web-based map-authoring applications and geospatial services.
• Build interfaces for loading data, selecting geographic fields, applying symbology, configuring labels, previewing maps, and publishing interactive visualizations.
• Develop backend services, APIs, business logic, data-processing workflows, and persistence mechanisms.
• Integrate vector, raster, and service-based geospatial data with databases, APIs, web services, and enterprise systems.
• Support data ingestion, transformation, validation, quality control, topology preservation, and metadata management.
• Produce technical documentation, participate in Agile ceremonies and code reviews, troubleshoot defects, and apply secure software development practices.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and an active U.S. Government TS/SCI security clearance with the required polygraph are required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, GIS, Geography, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience delivering full-stack web applications using JavaScript or TypeScript and a frontend framework such as React, Angular, or Vue.
• Backend development experience with Java, Python, Node, or similar technologies, plus RESTful API design and integration.
• Professional experience with geospatial data, GIS, spatial databases such as PostgreSQL/PostGIS or Oracle Spatial, and geospatial formats and services.
• Understanding of coordinate reference systems, projections, geometry, topology, metadata, data quality, technical documentation, and Agile collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience with ArcGIS, QGIS, OpenLayers, Leaflet, MapLibre, Mapbox GL JS, GDAL/OGR, or GeoTools.
• Experience designing thematic and interactive geospatial visualizations.
• Experience migrating data from Oracle to PostgreSQL/PostGIS.
• Experience with containerization, CI/CD, automated testing, enterprise deployments, accessibility, usability, or web performance.
