Systems Operations Specialist (AWS/Linux)

Location: Toronto, Canada; hybrid work with at least 3 days per week in the office

Salary: CAD 84,000–115,000 base pay per year, plus annual bonus or commission, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Monitor and support production systems to maintain the reliability, availability, and performance of Canadian equities platforms.
• Configure, maintain, and enhance Linux and AWS infrastructure while supporting the migration to AWS.
• Troubleshoot incidents and real-time application issues in collaboration with developers and technology teams.
• Respond to technical and operational questions from clients and internal stakeholders.
• Build automation, operational workflows, documentation, and runbooks to reduce manual work and strengthen platform support.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 4 years of experience supporting production systems, cloud infrastructure, or systems operations.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and Linux administration, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux and the Linux command line.
• Experience with scripting and automation using Python, Bash, PowerShell, Terraform, or similar tools.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and client service skills in a collaborative and regulated environment.
• Ability to work in the Toronto office at least 3 days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting real-time, highly available, or business-critical applications.
• Familiarity with monitoring, observability, CI/CD, networking, and security.
• Experience with Datadog, Grafana, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, or GitLab.
• Interest in capital markets, trading technology, or financial services.
