AI Automation Engineer

Location: Barcelona, Spain; hybrid working with flexible hours.

What you will do

• Embed with R&D teams to understand workflows and identify repetitive, high-cost manual work.
• Prioritize automation opportunities with team managers based on frequency and business impact.
• Design and ship end-to-end solutions using agentic AI, scripts, pipelines, or other tooling as appropriate.
• Build documented, monitored, and maintainable automations that teams can run and improve after handover.
• Establish standards for AI adoption across R&D and potentially grow a 2–3 person team.

Requirements

• Deep, current knowledge of agentic AI tools, patterns, and limitations.
• Strong generalist engineering skills across backend, scripting, CI/CD, and tooling.
• Ability to evaluate automation empirically and choose the simplest reliable solution.
• Experience delivering maintainable solutions and collaborating directly with engineering teams.
• Fluent English is essential.

Nice to have

• Spanish for day-to-day collaboration with Barcelona-based teams.
• Interest in growing into leadership of a small AI adoption team.
