Senior Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: New York City, United States; hybrid and flexible remote work options are available.

Salary: $180,000–$240,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead and develop a cross-functional engineering team across multiple product domains.
• Write production code, lead design reviews, and pair with engineers on complex technical problems.
• Define engineering standards for code quality, system design, testing, deployment, and incident response.
• Drive an AI-native engineering model by deploying agents, building evaluation frameworks, and coaching engineers in AI tooling.
• Partner with Product, Operations, and Data to refine roadmaps and prioritize high-leverage work.
• Own system architecture, build-versus-buy decisions, technical debt, engineering culture, and cross-team technical collaboration.

Requirements

• Experience managing and growing engineering teams in a startup environment.
• Production experience with AI agents in engineering workflows and designing evaluation frameworks for complex tasks.
• Strong engineering fundamentals and production-quality coding experience in at least one modern backend or full-stack language.
• Ability to lead senior-level system design discussions and remain hands-on with code.
• Experience growing engineers and partnering effectively with Product and Operations.
• High ownership, strong judgment, and the ability to communicate technical constraints to non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience in a scaling healthcare technology company.
• Familiarity with healthcare regulations, interoperability constraints, and healthcare delivery operations.
