Backend Engineer (Crypto Payments)

Location: Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, or Thailand. Remote-first, work-from-home arrangement; availability may vary depending on the role and team.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services for Binance Pay and Card products.
• Build scalable APIs and microservices for payment processing, transaction management, merchant services, and financial workflows.
• Develop distributed systems handling high-volume and latency-sensitive transactions.
• Work with databases, caching systems, message queues, and infrastructure components to improve performance and reliability.
• Implement transaction workflows covering retries, idempotency, concurrency, and failure handling.
• Troubleshoot production issues using logs, metrics, tracing, and root-cause analysis while contributing to code reviews, security, observability, and engineering practices.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, operating systems, concurrency, and computer science fundamentals.
• Proficiency in at least one backend language such as Java, Go, C++, Python, or a similar language.
• Understanding of relational databases and SQL, including indexes, transactions, and database design.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs, HTTP, networking, and client-server architecture.
• Ability to write maintainable code, reason systematically about technical problems, communicate clearly, and learn in a fast-moving environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, or other message-queue technologies.
• Understanding of distributed-system concepts such as consistency, availability, replication, caching, asynchronous processing, and fault tolerance.
• Knowledge of payment concepts including authorization, capture, settlement, refunds, reconciliation, chargebacks, and payment lifecycle management.
• Backend engineering internship, personal project, hackathon, or open-source experience.
• Interest in cryptocurrency, blockchain, fintech, and payment infrastructure.
