Senior Data Scientist (AI)

Location: Hybrid, with 3 days per week in an office hub in San Francisco or Toronto

Salary: $185,000–$230,000 annually in San Francisco; $160,000–$195,000 annually in Toronto, plus equity.

What you will do

• Translate complex datasets into insights and strategic recommendations that influence product direction and business priorities.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and Operations to define KPIs and support data-informed decision-making.
• Plan annotation work and define evaluation schemas with the evaluation data team.
• Build and evolve event instrumentation, metric frameworks, and scalable self-serve analytics tools.
• Communicate analytical results to technical and non-technical audiences and mentor team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience with SQL or comparable big data querying languages.
• 5+ years of experience with Python, R, or a similar programming language.
• 5+ years of experience applying inferential methods, causal methods, A/B testing, or statistical modeling.
• Experience using machine learning and statistical analysis to build data-driven product solutions or conduct methodological research.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for presenting complex findings to technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in applied mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, economics, or a related field.
• Product-focused experience in the legal or medical domain.
