Senior Backend Developer (AI)

Location: Stockholm, Sweden — hybrid, combining the Stockholm office with remote work

What you will do

• Design, build, and scale backend services for 3DAI™, a road intelligence system deployed across more than 15 countries.
• Develop systems for storing, processing, and visualising large volumes of geospatial and time-series data.
• Design APIs, database schemas, security, logging, monitoring, and scaling solutions.
• Own features end-to-end, from technical design and high-level specifications through production deployment.
• Design distributed systems using asynchronous processing, caching, queues, and service-to-service communication.
• Use AI-assisted development and agentic workflows while maintaining high engineering and code-quality standards.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend development experience or equivalent depth building production-grade services.
• Strong hands-on experience with Node.js, TypeScript, AWS, REST APIs, and GraphQL.
• Experience with geospatial and time-series data, including PostGIS.
• Experience with serverless computing or Infrastructure as Code using tools such as AWS CloudFormation, Docker, or the Serverless Framework.
• Experience designing distributed systems with asynchronous processing, caching, queues, and service-to-service communication.
• Strong code-quality practices, including unit and integration testing. All application materials must be in English.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-performance relational, analytical, or NoSQL databases.
• Experience with SQS, SNS, Kafka, or similar messaging and event-driven systems.
• Experience with observability, CI/CD pipelines, and production deployment workflows.
