Infrastructure Engineer (VMware)

What you will do

• Join the Compute & Storage workstream for a major Critical National Infrastructure virtualisation programme.
• Support low-level design authoring for a dual-site VMware Cloud Foundation and vSAN platform.
• Build and commission the virtualisation platform, including cluster, storage, encryption, and fault-tolerance configuration.
• Deploy and manage HPE ProLiant hardware, including firmware and iLO configuration.
• Coordinate with Identity, backup, disaster recovery, customer, and third-party vendor workstreams.
• Produce and review technical designs, diagrams, build guides, and configuration standards.

Requirements

• Hands-on production experience with VMware vSphere and vSAN, ideally vSAN ESA.
• Experience with cluster design, RAID/FTT policies, and encryption configuration.
• Experience deploying and managing HPE ProLiant servers, firmware, and iLO.
• Understanding of enterprise backup and disaster recovery, plus experience with an enterprise backup platform.
• Working knowledge of Windows Server infrastructure, including Active Directory, PKI/AD CS, and RDS.
• Ability to produce audit-ready technical documentation and work confidently in regulated, security-conscious environments.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with Rubrik.
• Specific experience with VMware vSAN ESA.
