Internal Communications Manager (Aerospace)

Location: Hybrid work near Denver or Colorado Springs, with some work required onsite; the role is also associated with locations in Denver, CO and Long Beach, CA. Applicants must meet U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements.

Base salary: $115,000–$170,000, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Build and own the internal communications strategy, editorial calendar, channels, cadences, standards, and operating rhythm.
• Advise the Chief People Officer, CEO, and executive team; write leadership messages, company updates, talking points, and other internal content.
• Plan and produce all-hands meetings, lunch and learns, leadership forums, and live, filmed, and written leadership communications.
• Lead change communications for company-wide and cross-functional initiatives, equipping managers with context and communication toolkits.
• Scale the intranet and internal channels across Slack, SharePoint, Confluence, email, and Microsoft collaboration tools.
• Coordinate with People, Marketing, Security, Legal, and Program teams on employee communications, launches, sensitive information, and ITAR or classification requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in internal, employee, or corporate communications, preferably in technology, aerospace, or defense.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills, including the ability to explain complex technical or strategic information clearly.
• Experience advising senior executives, building communications programs from the ground up, and supporting organizational change.
• Strong project management, ownership, judgment, confidentiality, and data-informed communication skills.
• U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected-individual status, or eligibility to obtain the required U.S. government authorizations under ITAR is required.

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace, defense, government contracting, national security, export-controlled, or classified environments.
• Experience using AI tools, producing multimedia content, or coordinating agencies and vendors.
• Experience with employee engagement surveys, communication analytics, and communications across multiple locations or business units.
