In-House Counsel & Portfolio Manager (Probate)

Location: Hybrid position based in the Rye Brook, New York office; in-office Mondays through Thursdays and fully remote on Fridays.

Salary: $120,000–$140,000 base salary plus performance-based incentive opportunities.

What you will do

• Monitor and maintain a nationwide portfolio of pending assignments in open probate matters.
• Represent Probate Advance’s beneficial interests in New York estate proceedings.
• Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, and legal instruments across multiple jurisdictions.
• Advise on contract interpretation, templates, underwriting escalations, risk allocation, obligations, and workflow improvements.
• Partner with Enterprise Risk to develop and maintain policies, procedures, and compliance practices.
• Manage probate litigation, outside counsel, and relationships with probate attorneys nationwide.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Active admission or pending admission to the New York State Bar.
• 1–2 years of experience in trust and estates law or probate litigation.
• Willingness to seek bar admission in key jurisdictions.
• Strong analytical skills, including experience with judgment enforcement.
• Ability to manage a high-volume workload, meet strict deadlines, and negotiate multi-party estate disputes and settlements.
