Software Engineer (Embedded Software/Firmware Development | Embedded Image Processing)

Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States; onsite role

Base pay: $83,000–$121,733 annually

What you will do

• Develop embedded software and firmware for mechanical control systems, from communications layers to high-level applications.
• Contribute to image-processing system design and image-processing software.
• Work with standards-based messaging protocols, including Ethernet, serial communication, and VMEbus.
• Build and maintain software across Unix/Linux and Windows environments.
• Collaborate with engineering, service, product support, and other disciplines in a global organization.

Requirements

• Master’s degree with no related work experience, or bachelor’s degree with 2 years of related work experience.
• Required knowledge of C, C++, C#, and Java, including software architecture and coding.
• Experience or exposure to Unix/Linux and Windows development environments.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of source control tools such as RTC, ClearCase, Git, and Azure DevOps.

Nice to have

• Experience with real-time operating systems such as Embedded Linux, Android, or VxWorks.
• Experience with Solaris and other Unix-like operating systems.
• Experience using AI coding assistants and agents.
• Understanding of SEMI equipment control software architecture.
