Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Lakehouse Infra)

Location: Remote US or Remote Canada

Base pay: $173,000–$255,000 per year, depending on US location, experience, and job-related skills.

What you will do

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for the Lakehouse Infra team while guiding engineers through ambiguous, open-ended problems.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics to define solutions, communicate technical constraints, and assess risks and trade-offs.
• Identify and lead the resolution of project, process, technology, and business issues.
• Operate and improve highly available data infrastructure by creating metrics, monitoring systems, escalating incidents, and supporting on-call operations.
• Establish code review and design standards, promote engineering quality, and share practices through writing and technical talks.
• Develop engineering talent through feedback, guidance, and technical leadership.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin.
• Experience building highly available distributed systems with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience scaling technologies such as Iceberg, Flink, Airflow, Spark, Kafka, Snowflake, and Terraform.
• Ability to define technical plans for significant features or system components and produce simple, extensible, high-quality code.
• Experience making significant changes in large codebases using safe development tools and practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, plus equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

• Experience with data infrastructure supporting machine learning, product, and financial engineering workloads.
