Senior Associate, Private Markets Accounting

Location: New York City, NY; hybrid

Salary: $65,000–$115,000 USD base salary, plus potential discretionary bonus and/or equity awards.

What you will do

• Perform bank reconciliations and post journal entries to maintain accurate financial records.
• Prepare workpapers covering capital activity, investment transactions, and income and expense accruals.
• Update distribution waterfall and carried-interest models, calculate management fees, and prepare supporting schedules.
• Analyze transaction documentation to assess investment structures, accounting impacts, and accrual requirements.
• Deliver accurate work within tight reporting deadlines and take ownership of key deliverables.
• Support year-end audits and coordinate with clients, internal teams, auditors, legal counsel, and tax advisors.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• At least 2 years of accounting experience with general ledgers, workpapers, and financial statement preparation.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and core accounting principles.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office suite.
• Strong attention to detail, ownership, communication, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across organizational levels.

Nice to have

• CPA and/or MBA designation, or progress toward certification.
• Experience with alternative investment funds, including private equity.
• Familiarity with investment partnerships and related accounting concepts.
