Senior Associate, Private Equity Accounting

Location: Union, New Jersey, United States; hybrid schedule

Salary: $63,000–$115,000 USD base salary annually, plus potential discretionary bonus and/or equity awards.

What you will do

• Perform bank reconciliations, post journal entries, and maintain accurate financial records.
• Prepare workpapers covering capital activity, investment transactions, income, and expense accruals.
• Update distribution waterfall and carried-interest models, calculate management fees, and prepare supporting schedules.
• Analyze transaction documentation to determine investment structures, accounting impacts, and accrual requirements.
• Support year-end audits and coordinate with internal teams, clients, auditors, legal counsel, and tax advisors.
• Deliver accurate work within tight reporting deadlines while owning key accounting deliverables.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• At least two years of accounting experience with general ledgers, workpapers, and financial statement preparation.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and core accounting principles.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office suite.
• Detail-oriented approach, ownership of deliverables, and ability to meet tight deadlines independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• CPA or MBA designation, or progress toward certification.
• Experience with alternative investment funds, including private equity.
• Familiarity with investment partnerships and related accounting concepts.
