Wire Harness Design Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Tempe, Arizona; Carlsbad, California; Duluth, Georgia; Germantown, Maryland; or Englewood, Colorado, United States

Salary: $95,000–$149,500 annually. For specific locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $117,500–$176,500 annually.

What you will do

• Design cables and wire harnesses for aviation and space products.
• Generate detailed cable and harness design packages, wire lists, assembly drawings, and related documentation.
• Specify connector and wire types while applying electrical, mechanical, EMI, and manufacturing considerations.
• Collaborate with systems, electrical, test, and operations engineering teams to deliver quality, manufacturable products.
• Participate in technical discussions and help identify critical components, design features, and engineering challenges.

Requirements

• Associate of Science degree in technology or a related field and/or at least 2 years of relevant experience in aviation or space applications.
• Strong practical experience with SolidWorks or other CAD-based wire harness design tools.
• Knowledge of electrical schematics, IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards, cable and harness fabrication, fabrication drawings, BOMs, and process documentation.
• Working knowledge of Agile or other PLM platforms.
• US citizenship required.
• Availability for up to 15–20% travel.

Nice to have

• Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline.
• 3D routing experience, including routing in Creo or NX.
• Experience with Siemens Capital and internal cable and harness specifications.
• Ability to mentor and guide junior designers.
