Staff Mechanical Engineer (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Develop mechanical designs for phased-array antennas, spacecraft subsystems, and mechanical interfaces through all development phases.
• Define requirements, develop architectures, conduct trade studies, and create block diagrams and first-order analyses.
• Perform mechanical, thermal, structural, and environmental analyses for spacecraft antennas and payloads.
• Support detailed CAD design, manufacturing, testing, qualification, and in-orbit operations.
• Present engineering design reviews to customers and executives and contribute to proposal writing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution.
• At least 8 years of experience in space antenna and payload mechanical engineering; a Master’s degree may count as two years of experience.
• Experience with electronics packaging, thermal systems, shock, vibration, stress dynamics, cost analysis, CNC manufacturing, and GD&T.
• Professional experience with Ansys Mechanical, SolidWorks Simulation, Thermal Desktop, and detailed 3D CAD design.
• Experience designing and manufacturing mechanisms and mechanical actuators, or advanced aerospace structures and materials such as sandwich panels and carbon composites.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, conditional resident, asylee, refugee, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. government authorizations.

Nice to have

• Programming experience with Python, C++, or another programming language.
• Experience with large deployable antenna arrays, robotics, control systems, or PCBA.
