Mechanical Engineer I (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Design mechanical systems for aerospace communication products from concept through detailed design and requirements definition.
• Develop electronics packaging, spacecraft mechanical interfaces, and thermal management solutions.
• Perform CAD design, mechanical simulations, thermal analysis, structural analysis, FEA, and shock and vibration analysis.
• Support manufacturing, environmental testing, qualification, and in-orbit product support.
• Apply precision machining, DFM/DFMA, GD&T, and EMI/EMC mitigation principles.
• Present engineering design reviews to customers and leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, civil engineering, industrial design, engineering technology, or a related technical field.
• 0–2 years of related experience in mechanical engineering, structural or stress analysis, CAD, product design, or a related discipline.
• Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, or AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, GD&T, drafting standards, engineering documentation, and DFM/DFMA.
• Experience with engineering analysis tools such as ANSYS, MATLAB, or similar, and with CNC manufacturing.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, conditional resident, asylee, refugee, or otherwise eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Nice to have

• Experience with electronics assemblies and collaboration with electrical engineers.
• Aerospace design, development, qualification, or manufacturing experience.
• Experience with electronics packaging, spacecraft structures and mechanisms, thermal and vibration dynamics, or stress analysis.
• Familiarity with EMI/EMC mitigation techniques.
