AVP, API Engineer

Location: Remote within the United States, with required occasional commuting to the nearest hirify.global hub or office in Alpharetta, Georgia; Stamford, Connecticut; or Charlotte, North Carolina for meetings, training, and culture events. Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

Salary: $115,000–$200,000 USD annually, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Lead solution, event-driven, microservice, and cloud-native architecture for consumer banking and credit servicing applications.
• Design full-stack applications, data models, RESTful APIs, and integrations using Java, Spring, J2EE, and related technologies.
• Drive CI/CD strategy with Jenkins, Bitbucket, and uDeploy while supporting application modernization and technology migrations.
• Guide Agile development teams through sprint planning, delivery, quality assurance, and technical decision-making.
• Diagnose production defects, perform root-cause analysis, resolve incidents, and improve system performance and reliability.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with developers, UX designers, product managers, architects, customer experts, and third-party vendors.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 8 years of software engineering experience, or a high school diploma/GED and at least 10 years of software engineering experience.
• At least 6 years of application development experience.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and Spring Cloud.
• Experience with microservices, cloud-native application architecture, RESTful APIs, Java, and application architecture.
• Critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, technical communication, and team leadership skills.
• Ability to work in the United States and commute to a nearest hub or office for occasional in-person activities; willingness to travel for business as required.

Nice to have

• Experience with SOAP and REST web services, continuous integration, and unit, integration, and UI testing.
• Experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Splunk, MySQL, SQL, GemFire, JSON, and XML.
• Experience with financial or banking applications and responsive web design.
• Experience using AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot.
• Experience working across matrix organizations and with global development partners.
