Senior Frontend Engineer - Checkout (React)

Location: Hamburg, Germany; hybrid workplace

Salary: €70,000–€85,000 gross per year

What you will do

• Architect and build modular embeddable checkout, authentication, and express-checkout components with TypeScript and React.
• Develop payment provider integrations, including Klarna, PayPal, and Apple Pay, with widget and redirect flows.
• Own storefront integration contracts for multi-tenant setups, including web components, host events, and tracking.
• Optimize Core Web Vitals, loading speed, rendering performance, accessibility, responsive design, and cross-browser compatibility.
• Monitor and resolve production issues with observability tools such as Datadog.
• Collaborate with Product, UX, Backend, and QA teams while driving code quality, architecture, refactoring, and platform capabilities.

Requirements

• 5+ years of frontend engineering experience with senior-level ownership and complex frontend or enterprise experience.
• Advanced JavaScript and TypeScript skills, including strict mode.
• Strong experience with React, Redux Toolkit, and redux-saga for asynchronous flows, multi-step funnels, and payment redirects.
• Experience with semantic HTML5, SCSS, BEM, modern design systems, Formik, react-intl, and REST API environments.
• Experience writing automated tests with Jest and React Testing Library and working with CI/CD pipelines.
• Fluent English is required; the role is based in Hamburg with a hybrid workplace setup.

Nice to have

• Experience building embeddable widgets, web components, or frontends running inside third-party sites.
• Enterprise experience and confidence communicating with C-level stakeholders.
• Flutter skills.
