Electrical Design Supervisor (Mining Equipment)

Location: Onsite in Lively, Ontario, Canada; travel internationally up to 15%.

Annual base compensation: CAD 120,000–145,000.

What you will do

• Lead, prioritize, coach, and mentor the electrical design team while providing technical guidance.
• Design and oversee electrical systems, schematics, communication networks, harness layouts, and electrical architectures for underground mining equipment.
• Select and integrate electrical components and systems with suppliers while balancing technical, commercial, performance, reliability, and cost objectives.
• Create production-ready designs and specifications and support manufacturing, product launches, prototype testing, assembly, commissioning, and production.
• Collaborate with project management, engineering, operations, manufacturing, product support, purchasing, and external vendors.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing, service, and field teams, resolving complex electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and software-related issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology.
• At least 5 years of experience designing electrical systems for mobile equipment, preferably in heavy equipment, mining, or industrial applications.
• Experience leading, coaching, mentoring, and developing technical teams.
• Knowledge of load calculations, voltage drop analysis, short-circuit calculations, electrical testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with CAD software, electrical components, system architecture, harness design, engineering ERP systems, and product lifecycle management.
• Knowledge of ISO, ANSI, CSA, ECN, ECR, NCR, risk assessment, DFMEA, and PFMEA processes, with willingness to travel internationally up to 15%.

• Experience with battery-electric vehicle design, integration, and testing.
