Smart Manufacturing Engineer (IIoT): Designing and building connected, data-driven industrial systems from factory-floor edge devices to enterprise cloud platforms with an accent on industrial protocols, secure connectivity, cloud ingestion, real-time analytics, and operational dashboards. Focus on architecting end-to-end IIoT solutions, integrating OT and IT systems, troubleshooting production workloads, and mentoring engineers through code and design reviews.
Location: 100% remote within the United States
Salary: $100,000–$150,000 annually

What you will do
- Design and build connected, data-driven industrial systems spanning factory-floor devices and enterprise cloud platforms.
- Architect end-to-end IIoT solutions covering edge data acquisition, secure connectivity, cloud ingestion, real-time analytics, and operational dashboards.
- Translate ambiguous requirements into production-ready solutions with product, design, engineering, operations, and business stakeholders.
- Apply code review, design review, troubleshooting, and documentation practices to ensure reliable production delivery.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- At least 5 years of IIoT or industrial software engineering experience, with 6+ years listed for the position.
- Strong programming skills in Python, C++, or Go.
- Hands-on experience with OPC UA, Modbus, MQTT, Sparkplug B, and at least one major cloud IoT platform such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with edge runtimes such as Greengrass or IoT Edge, streaming and real-time analytics platforms, OT/IT integration patterns, and industrial cybersecurity standards.
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States; new H-1B visa petitions cannot be sponsored.
Nice to have
- Experience with digital-twin platforms and predictive maintenance ML models.
- Exposure to InfluxDB, TimescaleDB, or other time-series databases.
- Familiarity with Unified Namespace patterns.
- Industrial certifications such as ISA or IEC 62443.
