Director of Engineering, AI Data Fabric

Location: Seattle, United States; other locations include Reston and San Jose. Workplace type: Hybrid.

Annual base pay: $253,400–$380,200, plus possible incentive compensation, bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead and develop engineering managers while setting goals, coaching growth, evaluating performance, and improving delivery predictability.
• Own the technical strategy, multi-year roadmap, engineering standards, vendor relationships, and core technology decisions for the AI Data Fabric.
• Expand the OpenTelemetry-based platform across additional hirify.global data centers and cloud providers while meeting residency and portability requirements.
• Own platform contracts used by AI/ML, analytics, data engineering, and data catalog teams, including onboarding new telemetry sources.
• Set SLOs and operational standards for ingestion, processing, retrieval, incident response, security, privacy, and audit readiness.
• Partner with Product, Finance, SRE, Security, and engineering leadership on platform strategy, investment, risk, and resourcing.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 6+ years managing engineers and 2+ years managing managers.
• Experience leading major platform migrations, expansions, or re-architectures without disrupting production.
• Experience operating enterprise-scale data platforms under formal SLOs and 24/7 accountability.
• Knowledge of distributed compute and streaming at production scale, including Kafka, Flink, and Spark.
• Experience with analytical storage and query engines, open table formats, Kubernetes, hybrid multi-cloud infrastructure, and OpenTelemetry pipelines.
• Working expertise in Golang, Java, Python, or C++ and experience with data correctness, platform APIs, data contracts, security, and privacy.

Nice to have

• Experience operating platforms whose data feeds billing or externally reported figures.
• Experience presenting technical strategy, risk, and investment trade-offs to executive leadership.
