Director, Software Engineering (Data Platform Infrastructure)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States

Base pay: $308,000–$417,000 per year, with potential cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the data infrastructure stack, including event bus, streaming, Kafka, storage databases, and multi-catalogue systems.
• Set the infrastructure roadmap for AI-native workloads and large-scale product platforms.
• Establish operational excellence, incident management discipline, and execution rigor across the organization.
• Build organizational depth by developing engineering leaders and strengthening succession readiness.
• Partner with product and platform leaders across QuickBooks, TurboTax, and hirify.global Enterprise Suite.

Requirements

• 18+ years of software engineering experience and 7+ years leading high-performing engineering teams.
• Deep technical expertise in streaming architectures, Kafka, event bus design, storage databases, and data catalogue systems at scale.
• Experience leading infrastructure transformation, incident response, uptime, and operational excellence.
• Strong people leadership experience, including developing high-potential talent and building leadership benches.
• Executive presence with the ability to represent data infrastructure strategy to VP, SVP, and CTO-level stakeholders.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field required; master's degree preferred.
