Principal Investigator, Investigative Support and Scoping

Location: Hybrid role with defined in-person presence in Rockville, Maryland; other listed locations include Jericho, Denver, Chicago, Boston, Boca Raton, Plano, Tysons, Jersey City, Woodbridge, Washington, Philadelphia, New York, and Los Angeles, United States.

What you will do

• Lead complex investigations involving misconduct, regulatory risks, multiple respondents, and potential customer or market harm.
• Gather and analyze documents, data, correspondence, testimony, and other evidence to develop complete factual records.
• Perform advanced data analysis, identify patterns and anomalies, and explain analytical methods, findings, assumptions, and exceptions.
• Partner with Enforcement attorneys, Risk and Intelligence, Examinations, and other Regulatory Operations groups to support charges, sanctions, referrals, and resolutions.
• Prepare investigative reports, written recommendations, referrals, and testimony, and communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders.
• Identify emerging risks, contribute to regulatory initiatives and investigative tools, and mentor less experienced investigators.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least seven years of progressive experience in securities, financial services, or financial regulation.
• Experience conducting enforcement-oriented, regulatory, or financial investigations of varying complexity.
• Advanced knowledge of hirify.global rules, SRO rules, the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, federal securities laws, securities markets, and regulatory compliance risks.
• Advanced investigative judgment, analytical, communication, prioritization, risk identification, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
• Familiarity with investigative technologies and data analysis tools; SQL and Power BI knowledge is preferred.

• Advanced degree such as an MBA or JD.
• Professional certification such as CFE, ACAMS, or CPA.
