Application Scientist (Bioinformatics)

Location: Philippines (remote). International business travel may be required to support customers in the APAC region.

What you will do

• Provide technical pre-sales support through expert demonstrations of VarSome Premium, Clinical, and API products.
• Own customer evaluations, address variant-analysis pain points, and advise on laboratory equipment and system integrations.
• Lead onboarding for geneticists and bioinformaticians and support cloud, private-cloud, and on-premises deployments.
• Coordinate infrastructure requirements, including storage and networking, between customers and DevOps.
• Optimize filtering strategies and automation for routine bioinformatics workflows and gather power-user feedback.
• Collaborate with Product, Marketing, Operations, and growth teams to improve product-market fit and influence the product roadmap.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with bioinformatics, including secondary and/or tertiary NGS analysis workflows.
• Strong understanding of variant classification frameworks and bioinformatics and IT workflows.
• Ability to explain complex bioinformatics and infrastructure concepts to researchers, clinicians, and IT professionals.
• Fluent English is required.
• Strong scientific, commercial, prioritization, project management, and self-organization skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in a bioinformatics software company or in DevOps/SysAdmin roles.
• Familiarity with regulated environments such as IVDR or CLIA/CAP.
• Experience working in multicultural environments or supporting international customers in a scale-up.
• Fluency in Mandarin, Japanese, or Korean.
