Principal Automation Architect Siemens PCS 7 (m/f/d)

Location: Onsite in Dreieich or Karlsruhe, Germany; travel up to 20%, including occasional international and overnight travel.

What you will do

• Lead solution architecture for Siemens PCS 7 across programs, products, and systems from concept through delivery.
• Define platform standards, reference architectures, implementation patterns, and reusable Siemens PCS 7 application libraries.
• Design scalable, secure, and resilient automation solutions across IT and OT environments.
• Lead system integration involving industrial communications, APIs, edge technologies, and data integration.
• Review key design decisions, resolve cross-system architecture issues, and guide engineering teams on complex technical work.
• Collaborate with product management, engineering, cybersecurity, quality, and architecture stakeholders on technical direction, regulatory expectations, and product roadmaps.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in automation, controls, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Extensive experience in industrial automation, controls engineering, or OT architecture, including architecture leadership for complex systems.
• Expert-level proficiency with Siemens PCS 7, including architecture, engineering standards, integration, lifecycle considerations, and reusable application-library design.
• Experience translating product, process, cybersecurity, and system requirements into scalable automation architectures across laboratory and industrial environments.
• Working knowledge of industrial communication and integration technologies, with experience directing multidisciplinary engineering teams and multiple development programs.

Nice to have

• Experience with automation solutions in life sciences, bioprocessing, pharmaceuticals, or another regulated industry.
• Knowledge of validation and product-lifecycle expectations.
• Experience with Rockwell Automation or DeltaV, or relevant Siemens, cybersecurity, or enterprise-architecture certifications.
