Storage Engineer (NetApp/Ceph)

Location: 100% remote within the continental United States

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 per year, plus benefits

What you will do

• Design and operate enterprise storage platforms using NetApp ONTAP, Pure Storage FlashArray/FlashBlade, and Ceph.
• Implement SAN, NAS, and object storage across data center, edge, and cloud environments for VMware, Kubernetes, and database workloads.
• Build replication, snapshot, backup, ransomware protection, and immutable snapshot strategies for critical data.
• Automate storage operations with Ansible, Terraform, REST APIs, and platform-native tools.
• Operate Ceph clusters, including OSD lifecycle management, CRUSH maps, RGW, RBD, and CephFS.
• Manage performance, observability, upgrades, security patching, troubleshooting, and cost optimization across the storage estate.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 5+ years of enterprise storage engineering experience.
• Deep expertise in NetApp ONTAP or Pure Storage FlashArray/FlashBlade, plus production-scale Ceph experience.
• Strong knowledge of SAN, NAS, object storage, storage performance, capacity planning, and cost optimization.
• Experience integrating storage with VMware and Kubernetes using CSI, along with strong Ansible, Terraform, scripting, or REST API skills.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills across storage, network, and host layers.

Nice to have

• NCDA, NCIE, Pure Storage, or other vendor certifications.
• Hybrid-cloud storage replication experience.
• Experience with software-defined storage beyond Ceph or object storage at petabyte scale.
• Exposure to AI/ML workloads with extreme I/O requirements.
