Senior Cyber Defense Engineer

Location: Hybrid in Millburn, New Jersey, United States

Salary: $130,000–$160,000 per year

What you will do

• Act as a senior subject matter expert, escalation point, and technical mentor for Cyber Defense.
• Monitor, investigate, and respond to security alerts across endpoint, network, identity, email, and cloud environments.
• Lead alert triage, case management, evidence review, forensic support, containment, and formal incident response escalation.
• Administer and optimize EDR, SIEM, NAC, vulnerability management, and other Cyber Defense platforms.
• Improve detection and response capabilities by tuning alerts, reducing false positives, closing visibility gaps, and enhancing workflows.
• Coordinate security initiatives, remediation, reporting, policies, standards, compliance alignment, and vendor collaboration.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Risk Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 7 years of progressive experience in information technology, information security, or risk-related roles.
• At least 5 years of direct cybersecurity experience in security operations, incident response, cyber defense, detection engineering, or related disciplines.
• Experience independently managing complex technical work and driving security initiatives from assessment through implementation.
• Availability for after-hours or on-call support during security events and incident response.
• Working knowledge of NIST CSF, SOX, HIPAA, and NYDFS 23 NYCRR 500.

Nice to have

• Industry certifications such as CISSP, GIAC, GCIH, GCIA, or GCFA.
