Senior Engineering Manager (Payments)

Location: Warsaw, Poland; remote or hybrid work available with a Warsaw hub.

What you will do

• Lead a team of 7–9 engineers responsible for the Payments area.
• Set expectations, provide regular feedback, run performance reviews and address underperformance fairly.
• Create growth plans, coach engineers through pairing and code reviews, and develop future senior engineers and tech leads.
• Partner with Product and Design to prioritize foundations, experiments and pivots based on user feedback.
• Stay hands-on in the codebase by implementing features and architectural changes.
• Track delivery speed, quality, team engagement and payment outcomes such as TPV while maintaining AI-native development practices.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• 4+ years leading engineering teams in product companies, including hiring, growth and performance management.
• Demonstrated experience developing people and handling difficult performance situations.
• Hands-on experience using AI to accelerate coding, code review and refactoring, with sound judgment about its limitations.
• Founder mindset, comfort with ambiguity, rapid experimentation and evidence-based decision-making.
• Fluent English required.

Nice to have

• Experience in payments or fintech, including payment service providers, reconciliation or compliance.
• Experience working at scale.
