Systems Engineer (Defence Technology)

Location: Brisbane, Australia. The role requires current Australian Defence security clearance at NV1 level or willingness to obtain it; many positions require Australian citizenship and eligibility to work with ITAR information.

What you will do

• Apply systems engineering processes across the full lifecycle of complex defence capability projects.
• Analyse, decompose, allocate, trace, and verify system requirements while maintaining compliance evidence.
• Develop and maintain system architectures, technical baselines, interface documents, specifications, verification artefacts, and engineering plans.
• Support integration, test readiness, verification execution, defect resolution, customer acceptance, and technical reviews.
• Manage technical risks, assumptions, dependencies, configuration control, engineering changes, and specialist engineering coordination.
• Communicate technical recommendations to customers, suppliers, stakeholders, and internal engineering teams.

Requirements

• Degree in electronic, electrical, or a similar engineering discipline.
• At least 4 years of experience in a systems engineering role.
• Current Defence security clearance at NV1 level or willingness to obtain it.
• Experience with defence acquisition programs and systems engineering across the system lifecycle.
• Experience with requirements management or systems engineering tools, engineering change control, configuration management, and technical risk management.
• Ability to explain complex technical information clearly to engineering, management, supplier, and customer stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Postgraduate qualifications in systems engineering.
• Knowledge of model-based systems engineering, DoDAF, MOSA, or SOSA.
