Staff Hardware Quality Engineer (Aerospace/Defense)

Location: Onsite in El Segundo, California, United States

Salary: $155,000–$230,000 per year in base compensation, excluding bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Drive quality engineering initiatives that improve manufacturing processes, product quality, and operational efficiency.
• Lead Root Cause and Corrective Action investigations through effective corrective action and closure.
• Review travelers, routers, build records, and ERP/MES data to maintain traceability and configuration accuracy.
• Identify and reduce manufacturing defects, rework, and Hours Per Unit.
• Manage nonconforming material, support MRB and disposition activities, and drive immediate containment on the production floor.
• Act as the first responder to build-quality issues and collaborate with Manufacturing, Test, and Engineering.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in quality engineering, manufacturing quality, or related manufacturing engineering roles.
• Experience investigating and resolving hardware manufacturing quality issues and leading RCCA investigations through closure.
• Experience with HPU or manufacturing defect-reduction initiatives.
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering.
• Ability to read drawings, schematics, and specifications; GD&T knowledge is preferred.
• Experience with ERP/MES systems and familiarity with IPC standards, including J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610.

Nice to have

• Six Sigma experience or certification.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability hardware environments.
• Experience across R&D, T2P, LRIP, or FRP production domains.
• AS9100 experience, FAI performance under AS9102, and strong MRB/nonconformance handling experience.
