Small Bus Underwriting Specialist - Hybrid

Location: Hybrid role based in Scottsdale, Arizona, United States; automobile travel to agent offices within the assigned territory represents approximately 10–20% of the role.

Salary: USD $79,000–$103,000 per year, with incentive plan eligibility.

What you will do

• Underwrite and market new small business accounts within assigned authority and territory.
• Gather, analyze, and evaluate risk exposure, then quote, accept, decline, or modify risks according to underwriting guidelines.
• Apply coverage forms, rating plans, classifications, and pricing standards to individual commercial property and casualty risks.
• Support agents with coverage, billing, policy information, underwriting decisions, and product guidance.
• Analyze premium growth and profitability by territory and agency using electronic reporting tools.
• Collaborate with agents, regional underwriters, agency management specialists, and internal departments; mentor newer small business underwriters as needed.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of underwriting and/or marketing experience.
• Proficiency with supplied desktop tools, automated underwriting systems, and email systems.
• Ability to develop proactive marketing strategies and communicate effectively with agents.
• Ability to build effective relationships with agents, underwriting staff, management, and peers.
• Ability to travel within the assigned territory and a valid state-issued driver’s license in good standing are required.
• A college degree is preferred; AU, CIC, or CPCU designation is preferred.
