Sr. Technical Proposal Writer

Location: Fairfax, Virginia, United States; work in the Fairfax office

Salary: $120,000–$140,000 per year

What you will do

• Serve as Lead Writer for assigned volumes on strategic federal pursuits.
• Develop technical, management, transition, staffing, quality, past performance, executive summary, and oral proposal content.
• Translate complex technical solutions into clear, persuasive, evaluator-focused narratives while maintaining technical accuracy.
• Partner with Proposal Managers, Capture Managers, Solution Architects, SMEs, graphic designers, and Business Development professionals.
• Lead content refinement through storyboard, Pink, Red, and Gold reviews, including resolving reviewer comments and compliance gaps.
• Use generative AI responsibly and contribute reusable content, graphics, proof points, and best practices to the proposal knowledge base.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, Marketing, Business, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience supporting federal proposal development.
• Experience serving as Lead Writer for complex federal proposals valued at $100M or more.
• Extensive experience writing technical and management volumes for DoD, civilian, and/or Intelligence Community opportunities.
• Strong understanding of federal proposal processes, solicitation requirements, compliance matrices, and evaluator-focused responses.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint, together with strong writing, editing, interviewing, organization, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• APMP certification or Shipley training.
• Experience supporting proposals exceeding $250M and facilitating storyboard sessions.
• Experience mentoring proposal writers and supporting oral proposals.
• Experience with proposal automation platforms, AI-enabled proposal tools, corporate content libraries, and knowledge management.
• TS/SCI eligibility.
