AI Model Engineer

Location: Hybrid, with a minimum of 3 business days onsite at the Fairfax, Virginia corporate office and/or Ashburn, Virginia customer site. US citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust determination are required.

Salary: $125,000–$150,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, train, fine-tune, deploy, and maintain computer vision models for object detection, tracking, and classification.
• Advance multimodal and vision-language foundation models for analysis, retrieval, and reasoning over EO/IR and hyperspectral datasets.
• Lead feasibility studies, prototypes, research programs, and technical demonstrations for emerging AI/ML capabilities.
• Build scalable data ingestion, curation, storage, ETL, and machine learning pipelines using Databricks, Apache Spark, AWS Glue, and Apache Airflow.
• Provide technical leadership and recommendations to government decision-makers while collaborating with mission partners and stakeholders.
• Support secure AI operations through DevSecOps, CI/CD automation, observability, performance monitoring, and DHS accreditation controls.

Requirements

• US citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust determination are required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 6+ years of software engineering and data engineering experience.
• Experience with cloud architecture, AI/ML algorithms, LLM applications, agentic workflows, prompt engineering, and model evaluation metrics.
• Proficiency with TensorFlow, PyTorch, YOLO, ONNX, Linux, Bash, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and CI/CD automation.
• Experience building ETL pipelines and strong communication skills for collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
• Experience supporting DoD, Intelligence Community, or other US government programs.
• Knowledge of computer vision, remote sensing, signal processing, RF communications, PCA/LDA, VAEs, Bayesian methods, RAG, reinforcement learning, and Kalman filtering.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, MongoDB, graph databases, data governance, and metadata management.
