TL;DR
Buyer (Fixed-Term Contract) (Supply Chain): Purchasing products and services, managing suppliers, purchase orders, inventory continuity, and category savings with an accent on vendor negotiation, risk reduction, and cross-functional coordination. Focus on developing supplier performance, leading cost-saving initiatives, supporting product and regulatory changes, and maintaining accurate purchasing and inventory data.
Location: Southampton, Hampshire, United Kingdom — on-site, 5 days per week in the office

What you will do
- Purchase products and services, obtain vendor quotes, negotiate prices and terms, create purchase orders, and track deliveries.
- Plan purchases and inventory levels to ensure continuity of supply.
- Develop supplier relationships, conduct performance reviews, and manage vendor selection and development.
- Identify and deliver cost-saving opportunities, manage category savings targets, and participate in tenders and RFPs.
- Reduce purchasing risk through supplier agreements, disaster recovery planning, and quality-focused specifications and SOW reviews.
- Collaborate with Finance, Product Change, Regulatory, Quality, and other stakeholders on purchasing agreements, product changes, audits, reporting, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Knowledge of purchasing and supply chain practices, with basic accounting knowledge.
- Strong problem-solving, planning, organization, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Fluent English required in written and verbal communication.
- Experience with an MRP system preferred; Oracle, BAAN, and Agile experience is advantageous.
- Intermediate proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with the ability to understand engineering specifications and SOWs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Business, or an equivalent qualification, or at least two years of purchasing experience.
Nice to have
- Professional purchasing or supply chain qualification or certification.
- Knowledge of an additional language.
